Ma Anand Yashu
9 October 1956 - 3 December 2007

Yashu...known for her big heart
for the divine sound of her flute
for her generosity
for her authenticity
for her open friendliness to all
for her spanish omelete
for her totality
for her devotion to Our Beloved Master
known as Oshos flute player
a true Zorba the Buddha

At a young age, already on the search, Yashu followed her mothers footsteps, by coming to, and travelling in India.
Geeta, her mother, met Osho in Bombay in the early Seventies,
and introduced his meditations to her and many others in the first Spanish Osho Meditation Center, Neel Akash, in Barcelona.
Her blood relations, a 3 generation Sannyas family.

In 1978, the pull of the Master drew her to Pune. With baby daughter Kavyo in her arms ,Yashus' introduction to the commune came by playing her flute in Osho's parents house, spontaineous kirtans, special chai, prasad.
With the start of Osho's Energy Darshan in Chuang Tzu Auditorium,Yashu was invited to play her flute with the other musicians there. During the day she was working in Osho’s garden in Lao Tzu.
In 1981,when Satsang began happening in Buddha Hall,Yashu played with many musicians participation, in this meditation with music, conducted by Osho in His room.
Then came a point when Yashu became really sick and was admitted into hospital. Osho send her a message that it was not her time yet to leave the body, and when she recovered, she took her place as Osho's co-ordinator for the music for Satsang, which started on the 1st of May 1981.
He wanted only her flute for that first morning Satsang, near His podium in Buddha Hall.Yashu called Yoga Krishna to accompany her, on the tanpura, for this beautifull gift.
By the end of May,Yashu with a few of her musicians, were on their way to USA, to greet Osho on His arrival at the new commune.
While being a resident in Rajneeshpuram, life took Yashu to Spain where she continued her magical musical harmony.
For brief periods Yashu returned to Pune, after Osho left the body. At one time she took up her place as the Mama of the musicians.

In 1995, in Europe Yashu joined Harida and Nartan, touring and recording, under their new label, Nazca Music.Together they recorded 3 albums, In Silence, Oasis and Shanti Shanti. She also recorded with other musicians for the same label.
In the Middle East, the tracks from Oasis were the most downloaded music in the year 1999. In 2001 her album Shanti Shanti reached the number 1 slot on the New Age Chart, in the USA.

In Ibiza,Yashu became Grandmother to her second granddaughter. Her life revolving around the endless care of "the girls".
Returning to India in 2003, Yashu set up her life in Goa, and was joined shortly after by Kavyo and her granddaughters. She was enjoying the girls, her garden and her doggies. At this point her body started showing signs of ill health, giving her physical difficulties. Dancing became difficult, and music became difficult to express.
She didn't make it to record another album as she wished, for reasons of restrictions from her body. Yashu played some gigs in Goa with local musicians and friends she contacted, from the pune times,to join her for the music. Yashu played her last magical concert with Harida and friends at Vagator,Goa,in March 2007.

In October Yashu was diagnosed with cancer, and underwent surgery in Spain. She decided to come back to her home in Goa, to the girls, her doggies and the garden, to take the post surgery treatment. The body of our Blissful Splendour didn't handle the chemo.
Yashu went into the Journey to the Beyond, at 5am on December 3rd, 2007. It has been a beautifull Farewell, with many of her closest ones present. All who came for her Send Off have been deeply touched by her Life, Love and Laughter.
Ma Anand Yashu was initiated into Sannyas the first week of December 1977.
