Somesh, born in
Jamaica, is a musician of over twenty years experience. Working
internationally, he has explored a wide range of musical formats. He was
brought up as a budding guitarist around the English and American Rock
explosion of the sixties and seventies; and rooted in the music of Soul, Rhythm
and Blues, and Jazz. He toured extensively in Europe with Embryo, one the major
German Bands of the time, playing also with Amon Duhl and Hannah Rhea. Later,
he spent many years in the East where he was strongly influenced by the music
of those cultures. In the early eighties he moved to the States and worked with
various bands in California, later in New York he pursued his skills as a
composer and produced soundtracks for the film Letting Go in 1989, a
short movie (Soho Film Group); and as Musical Director for Lotto a
production performed at La Mamas, New York's famed Off-Broadway theatre. In
1991, he composed the music for a modern dance piece "Birds"
performed at a Roy al Gala Evening in the Royal Opera House in London. Somesh
then worked in Japan on an album with Shokichi Kina, one of Japan1s few
international stars, later producing a body of work for Rising Tide Films in
Australia. Since 1995, he has produced a series of Meditation Music, released a
CD Dancing Tribe, (Nazca Music) and co-produced a dance production
Dancing and Singing The Blues that toured 1998 and 1999 in Germany,
France, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland.
He is currently
Director of Lotus Productionsthe company that produced Dancing
